Privacy Policy

In short: The Emmersify app has no accounts and does not collect your name, email, voice, location, or contacts. Your subscription is checked with a random, anonymous ID. The only personal data we hold is the email address you choose to give us if you join our website waitlist, or that you enter if you buy on our website. Your saved words and learning progress stay on your device. We don't sell data, show ads, or track you across apps.

This policy explains how Viral App Brewery Pte. Ltd. (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Emmersify app (“Emmersify”, “the app”) and this website.

1. Information we do not collect

No account or sign-up in the app: the app doesn't ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
No microphone, camera, contacts, photos, or location access. Emmersify only plays audio; it never records or listens.
No advertising identifiers and no cross-app tracking.
No payment card details: App Store purchases are handled by Apple, and website purchases by Stripe. We never see your card number.

2. Information stored only on your device

To make the app work, Emmersify stores the following locally on your iPhone: words you save, flashcard review history and schedule, which clips you've watched or liked, and your settings (such as Simplified or Traditional Chinese). This data is not sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it.

3. Information processed to deliver content

When you use Emmersify, the app downloads video clips and their subtitles from our content providers: Supabase (clip information) and Cloudflare (video delivery). Like any internet request, these requests include technical information such as your IP address, device type, and operating system version. We use this only to deliver content and keep the service secure and reliable; we do not use it to identify you or build a profile. These providers may keep short-term server logs under their own privacy policies.

4. Website waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this website, we store your email address, your browser's language setting, and the date you joined. We use them only to email you when Emmersify launches. They are stored with our database provider, Supabase, and are never sold or shared for marketing. We delete the list once we've sent the launch announcement, or sooner if you ask us at [email protected]. Joining is optional, and our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

5. Subscriptions

In the app: subscriptions are purchased and managed through your Apple ID. Apple processes your payment and shares with us only what's needed to confirm your subscription (such as the product, purchase dates and renewal status). See Apple's Privacy Policy.

Subscription status: we use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active, restore purchases and unlock website purchases in the app. The app creates a random, anonymous ID on your device; RevenueCat receives that ID, your purchase receipts and transaction details, and basic technical information (such as device model, operating system version, app version, country/storefront and IP address). It is not linked to your name or used for advertising. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

On our website: if you subscribe on emmersify.app or yakforenglish.com, Stripe processes the payment and may act as the seller (merchant of record). Stripe collects your email address, payment details and billing country to process the payment, calculate tax and prevent fraud. RevenueCat receives your email address and purchase details so it can send you the link that unlocks the app and let you manage the subscription. See Stripe's Privacy Policy. We use this information only to provide your subscription, answer support requests and meet legal and tax obligations, and we keep it for as long as the law requires for transaction records.

Trial reminder: if you start a free trial and allow notifications, the app schedules a reminder on your device for the day before the trial ends. It is created and delivered locally; no notification data is sent to us.

6. Learning content

Subtitles, definitions, translations, and pronunciation guides are prepared in advance on our servers, partly with the help of AI tools. No personal data from you is used to create them.

If you select a group of words that doesn't have a ready-made explanation, the app asks our server to explain it. The app sends only which clip and which words you selected. Our server (Supabase) sends that sentence from the clip to OpenAI, which writes the explanation, and keeps the answer so the next person who selects the same words gets it straight away. Nothing about you is sent to OpenAI or stored with the answer.

7. Children

Emmersify is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your rights

Apart from a waitlist email address, we don't hold personal data about you — your learning data lives on your device and you control it. If you joined the waitlist, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your email address at any time. We comply with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) and, for users in the EU/EEA and UK, the GDPR. If you are in one of these regions, California, or anywhere else with privacy laws, you may still contact us with any request or question and we will respond within the time required by law.

9. Changes

If we change how Emmersify handles data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be explained in the app's release notes.
